DS & Durga Wild Brooklyn Lavender Candle: Brooklyn flowering in the early aughts where wild packs of dogs roamed free among savage weeds and anything seemed possible. Top Notes: spike lavender, wayside herbs. Heart Notes: vetiver grass, lavender flowers. Base Notes: suede, asphalt.
"I moved to Brooklyn in 2002 when I was 22. Almost everyone I knew was doing something interesting. Once I left a poker game at 3 am in Bushwick. As I stepped onto the street. I was shocked to encounter a wild pack of dogs–the alpha leader, the Lil’ scruff, the dame, etc. New York was wild; it seemed like anything was possible. You could study the weeds that grew out of the cracks in Brooklyn, and even start a perfume company out of nowhere." - D.S.
DS & Durga believes the power of scent is equal to that of sight and sound. A great perfume is a keyhole into another realm; an invisible landscape that you can enter and explore any time. Candles are made from soy-vegetable wax and use a cotton wick. Glasses candle vessels are meant to be reused and repurposed.
Candle Care
- Allow wax to melt to the full edge of the vessel before extinguishing
- Burn for at least 2 hours on first use
- This prevents tunneling and sets the candle's memory
- Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each lighting
- Never burn longer than 4 hours at a time
- Keep away from drafts, vents, and moving air
- Replace the lid or cover to protect from dust
- Store away from direct sunlight — UV fades fragrance and finish
- Discontinue use when ¼ inch of wax remains at the bottom
