Lilitu writes its scent notes as crown, heart, and root rather than the top, heart, and base every other label defaults to, and that one-word swap tells you how this Los Angeles fragrance house thinks: a fragrance grows like a tree, canopy to taproot. The name digs deeper still. In Mesopotamian myth, a lilitu is a spirit of the night, and this line wears its mythology openly, down to a candle named for the huluppu tree of Sumerian legend, a bird nesting in its crown and a serpent coiled at its root.

Lilitu's compositions back the theater up. Into the Darkness, our bestselling Lilitu candle so far, opens with iris and cardamom over a heart of leather and papyrus, then settles into amber and sandalwood territory that fans of our sandalwood candles will recognize on the first burn. Spirit of the Night sets Bulgarian rose against black pepper, dark chocolate, and labdanum, a pairing we almost never see in candles. According to our 2026 Luxury Candle Report, leather, tobacco, smoke, and suede claimed two of our top six bestsellers, and Lilitu arrives squarely inside that darker turn.
