Diptyque Candles

Diptyque candles are built to a single standard regardless of size. The wax holds fragrance evenly from the first burn to the last, the pure cotton wick is trimmed to throw scent without tunneling, and the cold scent matches the lit scent, which is rarer than it sounds. A 190g classic burns 50 to 60 hours; the 300g runs 80 to 90; the 600g three-wick reaches 150 hours and fills an open-plan room. Trim the wick to about 5mm before each light and the burn stays clean to the base.

The scent library is where Diptyque candles separate from everything else we carry. Baies, blackcurrant leaves and Bulgarian rose, is the one most people know and still the one most people buy. Feu de Bois is a literal wood fire, smoky and dry, the cold-weather staple. Tubereuse is a heady white floral; Figuier is the whole fig tree, leaf, wood, and milky fruit; Narguile leans spiced and resinous. Of the more than fifty brands on our floor, Diptyque is the one whose candles are collected like fragrance rather than burned and replaced, and Baies has held that place for as long as we have carried the line.
