FAQ
Thymes Candles: Scents, Materials and Buying Guide
Thymes candles are made with food-grade paraffin wax and lead-free cotton wicks. The formulations are free of parabens and SLS/SLES, and the brand states that products are phthalate-free whenever possible. Thymes candles are made in the USA with globally sourced components. As with any candle, burning in a well-ventilated room and trimming the wick before each use will ensure the cleanest possible burn.
Thymes candles are manufactured in the United States by a team headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the brand was founded in 1982 by Leslie Ross Lentz and Stephanie Shopa. Since 2016, Thymes has been part of CURiO Brands, which also includes Capri Blue and Aspen Bay.
Short answer: yes, reliably so. Thymes candles have been on our floor at Candle Delirium for over two decades and they have never been a question mark. The scent throw is strong, the paraffin wax burns cleanly, and the formulas hold up across production runs in a way that matters to customers who reorder the same scent every winter. We carry over 50 luxury fragrance brands, and Thymes is one of the few that has never had a season where we considered pulling it from the floor. That kind of shelf stability, sustained for over twenty years, is more meaningful than any single gift guide placement.
Thymes and Nest New York sit in the same price bracket and serve the same customer, but they behave differently. Thymes has stronger cold throw on the shelf. Frasier Fir in particular is detectable from several feet away before the lid is off, which is unusual for a candle under $50. Nest relies more on burn performance and layered dry-downs. Bamboo, Grapefruit, and the seasonal editions reveal complexity after twenty minutes of burning that they do not telegraph cold. If a customer is buying for their own home and wants the room to fill fast, Thymes. If the purchase is a gift that needs to impress on first sniff before it is lit, Nest. At Candle Delirium we sell both in comparable volume year-round.
