More about Welton London Candles

Passion drives English-born John-Paul Welton whose career has been quite exceptional. His role in diplomatic and government circles led him to travel to the Middle East, Asia and the United States. After several years in this field, he then made a complete change, leaving this world to devote himself entirely to his passion for interior design. Curious by nature, his extensive travels were a primary source of inspiration for his first range of furniture launched in 2001, bearing the Welton Design signature. However, creating an interior and enhancing its atmosphere requires not only furniture, colours and decorative objects but also aromatic scents. John-Paul Welton is always on the lookout for the best possible quality for his clients so he selected Grasse for its worldwide reputation in perfumery in order to develop a range of aromatic products for the interior: home fragrances, scented candles and fragrance diffusers. By working on the creation of his scents, Welton Candles, he discovered a new passion.

John-Paul Welton has developed Welton Candles, a range of scents to add that special touch to the decor. He uses the arts of perfumery for the home. Fascinated by the world of perfume, he creates each particular fragrance in Grasse - French Riviera, city chosen for its worldwide reputation in perfumery. WELTON LONDON fragrance collections are available in scented candles and home fragrance diffusers. With their contemporary, elegant designs and excellent diffusing power, they are popular with customers who demand top quality and service.

Welton Candles Olfactory Pyramid - The olfactory pyramid is printed on the ONYX packaging.

What is an olfactory pyramid?
Perfume is described in a musical metaphor as having three sets of notes, making the harmonious scent accord. The notes unfold over time, with the immediate impression of the top note leading to the deeper middle notes, and the base notes gradually appearing as the final stage. These notes are created carefully with knowledge of the evaporation process of the perfume.

Top notes: The scents that are perceived immediately on application of a perfume. Top notes consist of small, light molecules that evaporate quickly. They form a person's initial impression of a perfume and thus are very important in the selling of a perfume. Also called the head notes.

Heart notes: The scent of a perfume that emerges just prior to when the top notes dissipate. The middle note compounds form the "heart" or main body of a perfume and act to mask the often unpleasant initial impression of base notes, which become more pleasant with time. They are also called the heart notes.

Base notes: The scent of a perfume that appears close to the departure of the middle notes. The base and middle notes together are the main theme of a perfume. Base notes bring depth and solidity to a perfume. Compounds of this class of scents are typically rich and "deep" and are usually not perceived until 30 minutes after application.

The scents in the top and heart notes are influenced by the base notes, as well the scents of the base notes will be altered by the type of fragrance materials used as middle notes. Manufacturers of perfumes usually publish perfume notes and typically they present it as fragrance pyramid, with the components listed in imaginative and abstract terms.

Welton Candles ONYX Collection : Inspiration

This particular range of perfumery is an alliance of premium bouquets of scents and elegant design, enhanced by a contrast of black and chrome. Each perfume in the Welton London ONYX Candle Collection has a personality of its own and lots of character! SOPHISTICATED FRAGRANCES: The new fragrances from the Onyx Collection have been created after a long process, John-Paul Welton who is passionate by perfumes, worked on each of them. The approach was to work on home fragrances as refined as perfume, Eau de Parfum. He wanted to open the world of fragrances to customers and introduce the perfumery world by the olfactory pyramid to people. Where does the name ONYX come from ? Black semi precious stones in jewellery are named Onyx. Which explains the colour of the packaging : black and silver.
