Valentine’s Day Gifts

Posted by on Jan 27 2010 | Valentine's Day

Few things create as much pressure and stress as Valentine’s Day gifts. Of course, we want the person we love to adore their gift, but there are so many choices. We want to buy something special, but many Valentine’s gifts are clichéd and some gifts in stores at this time of year are downright tacky. Flowers and candy seem like the safe choices, uninspired, even if they are nice. Here are some options to make your Valentine’s Day gift more special:

1) Give a lovely gift basket. Include treats, little pampering gifts, and a wonderful collection of scented candles. Unlike candies and flowers that will be gone in a day, this is a gift that will last for weeks. And each time your beloved lights a candle or nibbles on a treat, he or she will remember you.

2) Give an experience. Rather than giving your loved one something, try offering an experience. Set up a picnic by candlelight and pay some musicians to serenade him or her. Or, create a perfect romantic getaway in your home with flowers, candlelight, a slow, romantic dinner and a bath. You can also check into a spa for a day and get his and hers pampering treatments. You could even rent a boat or limo and go on a short trip. There are many ways to create a romantic experience that your loved one will remember forever.

3) Give traditional Valentine’s Day gifts – with a fun twist. Instead of flowers, buy your loved one chocolate flowers. Instead of chocolates, buy them the Godiva Chocolate Strawberry Rose candle, which smells of chocolate dipped strawberries and rose petals. It’s the perfect treat for the chocolate lover! Instead of seeing a romantic film, why not see a children’s movie instead and laugh it up? Have a little fun with Valentine’s Day by offering a fun twist on tradition.

4) Create a total surprise. Pretend that you are extra busy around Valentine’s Day but then surprise that special someone with a horse-drawn carriage ride to a park, where a candle lit dinner is waiting. Or, have a wonderful meal waiting at home when your loved one walks in have. Have the whole house transformed with flowers, candles, and music. Or, have your significant other meet you outside and whisk them away in a hot air balloon ride.

5) Get public. Send a telegram or flowers to your loved one’s place of work or send a signing telegram or a group of singers. Send a balloon o-gram or have your Valentine’s Day message written in the sky with a plane. Get create and let the whole world know how much your significant other means to you.

6) Offer a trip. Travel is a great way to get away from demands and spend some great time together. A gift trip doesn’t have to be expensive – even a weekend in a wonderful Bed and Breakfast will do. Or, save up and splurge on a more exotic holiday. Traveling together, though, keeps you together.

Valentine’s Day Scents

Posted by on Jan 16 2010 | Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is a time to seduce and delight the person you love most, and nothing romances quite like appealing to all your loved one’s senses. You might want to pour your significant a bubble bath so that they can feel warm water on their skin. You might cook or order a special meal to entice their taste buds. You may buy beautiful flowers to appeal to their sense of sight and you might play favorite music to create music for their ears.

Of all the senses, however, none set the stage for romance quite like our sense of smell. Science has shown that smell is most closely linked to our memories, so that a whiff of favorite scent can remind us of the first time we met or went out on a date with that special someone. Since ancient times, certain scents have been used as aphrodisiacs to stir the senses and seduce. You can use this same allure this Valentine’s Day.

The easiest way to create a wonderful ambience for romance is with quality scented candles. Candles fill your home with scent and soft glow that is perfect for a romantic evening. The scent of good quality scented candles can fill the whole room. The key, of course, is to choose good quality candles. Low quality candles may produce more soot and impurities – not exactly romantic. Lower quality candles also tend not to last as long, and you don’t want to be fussing with candles when you should be gazing into the eyes of the person you love best. Worst of all, lower quality candles produce poor quality scents – either too overpowering and sweet or else barely noticeable.

High quality scented candles use high quality perfumes. The result is a rich scent that is never overpowering or cheap. Most quality candles layer their scents, combining notes of fragrances (just like the best perfumes do) to create a rich and heady scent that is perfect for romance. Good quality candles from trusted manufacturers also use pure ingredients that are safer for you and produce a longer, cleaner burn time – with no fussing. Of course, good candles are also beautiful, contained in jars and boxes that are miniature works of art.

Some of the top candle manufacturers produce Valentine’s Day scents, or candles that are perfect for the romance of this special time of year. These candles are perfect as a way to set the mood for the evening. They also make amazing gifts for that someone special. For example, the Amouage First Rose candle is based on one of the most-loved scents in the world: the scent of the rose. This candle is created using the rare and prized scent of the Damascene rose. Notes of musk, geranium, citrus, and frankincense create a rich, complex, and memorable scent that is perfect for an evening of romance. Why spend a small fortune on roses that will fade the next day? Give your beloved an Amouage First Rose candle and he or she will enjoy hours of luxurious scent. Each Amouage First Rose candle burns for over 40 hours and is packaged beautifully in a frosted jar embossed with a gold logo silkscreen. An embossed brass lid makes this a beautiful piece of décor as well.

Candles For Valentines

Posted by on Jan 03 2010 | Valentine's Day

If you only get one thing for Valentine’s Day this year, make sure to get candles for Valentines. No other purchase at this time of year gives you so many options if you want to celebrate the day with a loved one. Just think of that you can do with the magic and beauty of candles on February 14:

1) Bathe by candlelight. Fill a bathtub with a richly scented bubble bath, sprinkle the foam bath with rose petals or other flower petals and turn out the lights. Clusters of scented candles on the bathroom floor create a gorgeous oasis in your bathroom, especially when the candlelight reflects off the water. Don’t forget to play some wonderful music, and you’ll have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

2) Create a romantic entranceway. If your loved one is working on Valentine’s Day, make their entrance a grand one. Light candles and scatter flowers in the entrance of your home and have lighted candles or flower lead your loved one to their Valentine surprise. This is one Valentine’s they won’t forget!

3) Create the perfect bedroom for romance. Light some beautiful scented candles in the bedroom, grouping them together in clusters and combining scents for a unique fragrance experience. Turn out the lights and toss some rose petals on the bed. Create a beautiful bedroom with soft throws, delicate curtains, and gorgeous bed linens. It’s the perfect setting for romance, especially with chilled champagne, two glasses, and a plate of chocolate strawberries by the bed. For a really sumptuous evening in, try the Modern Alchemy D.L. & Co. Eros Candle. With an exotic blend of ambrette seed, warm skin, and cordova leather, this candle is one way to ensure that the sparks really fly.

4) Create the ultimate candlelit dinner. Most restaurants serve a special Valentine’s Day meal, but most dining establishments are very hectic and overcrowded on this day of the year. That’s not exactly romantic. You can create romance at home by creating a beautiful candle-lit dinner area in your own home. Get out your best dinnerware (hint: If you don’t have any, consignment shops and antique shops sell gorgeous individual plates for very little). Throw a cloth tablecloth over a cozy table and top with dinner service, flowers, and beautiful scented candles. If you can cook, treat that special someone to a home-cooked meal. If cooking is not your strong suit, consider serving a delicious take-out meal that you can enjoy together.

Candles create the perfect mood, scent, and ambience for an evening of romance on Valentine’s Day. You can easily create the perfect Valentine’s Day surprise with scented candles. The glow and scent of these candles speak to romance like few other things can. Also, while most people expect candy and flowers, candles are something that often gets overlooked at this time of year. They are, however, one of those little details that can make your day together even more romantic. Buy some quality scented candles today and prepare to sweep that someone special off their feet!
