Thymes Candles: Scents, Materials and Buying Guide

WHY WE LOVE IT

Thymes Candles: From Frasier Fir to Goldleaf

Walk into almost any home in December and if there is a tree-scent drifting down the hall, there is a good chance a Thymes candle is burning. Thymes candles built their reputation on Frasier Fir, and the reason is simple: Siberian fir needle, cedarwood and sandalwood layered into something that smells like a living tree, not an air freshener. We sell more Thymes candles between October and January than almost any other brand in the shop, and regulars come in asking for Frasier Fir by name.

Most people come to us for Frasier Fir and leave with a second Thymes candle they did not expect. Goldleaf surprises the most, a heady jasmine and rose blend over oak moss that reads more like a fine perfume than a home candle. For fall, Simmered Cider fills a room with pressed apple, clove and cardamom over warm bourbon, and Pumpkin Laurel wraps nutmeg, cinnamon and orange peel around creamy pumpkin. The Thymes candles range is broader than Frasier Fir suggests, so browse our Frasier Fir candles collection for the holiday lineup, or try Nest candles and LAFCO candles for related scent profiles.

Thymes candles have been made in Minneapolis since 1982, which makes them one of the longest-running home fragrance houses in the country. The wax burns clean, the scent throw is strong for the price point, and the seasonal limited editions are worth watching for every fall and holiday season. Frasier Fir gets all the attention, but the permanent Thymes candles range is one of the most underrated mid-range collections we carry at our West Hollywood shop.
