History
The French fabrics House Manuel Canovas was founded by Monsieur Manuel Canovas in Paris in 1963.
Manuel Canovas showed an interest in drawing and the use of color from an early age. His passionate interest in botany was encouraged by his father, a painter and author, who guided his studies in that direction. With formal training at the "Beaux-Arts de Paris" and the "Beaux-Arts de Rome" where he studied architecture, painting, drawing and archaeology, he set up his own company to produce decorative fabrics and wall coverings.
Manuel Canovas' love of textiles and knowledge of painting and weaving techniques are evident in his design, as is his ability to combine the precision of a draftsman with the instinct of a colorist. His style developed over the years and he became world-renowned world for his beautiful colors, unique floral and luxurious weaves.
Travel, his admiration of Indian Art, the harmonies of refined colors and perfection of Japanese Graphic Arts and Geometric, nature, American folk art and events in his life are all subjects for which Manuel Canovas drew inspiration. After decorating the interiors, Manuel Canovas was really willing to perfume them and born was the line of Home Fragrances, which came up in seven notes as the MANUEL CANOVAS candles.
